Narrative stories
Make sure next time your in the class foyer you have a read of our class narratives. We were given two characters and had to create the setting. We cut up our stories and put them back together.
The Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carl
For reading this week our big book we are studying is The Hungry Caterpillar, the children have been learning about comas, using expression when you read and sequence of events. Today the children had to remember which foods the caterpillar ate and the sequence they were eaten. The students then had to use gross motor skills to cut, hole punch and thread the foods onto string to make caterpillar necklaces. Don't the necklaces look wonderful!

Fractions of a beat
Fractions of a beat for Maths
We created a sequential rhythmic pattern using body percussion. We were successful because we were able to follow a pattern to clap and stomp in time. We made a pattern using shapes, each shape was a movement e.g a triangle was clapping, a square was stomping. We then had to read the pattern and complete the actions.

Drums
Well done to one of the students in the class who brought in his drum and played for us this morning. We were so impressed!
Cat in the hat
Part of the handwriting program some of the students drew cat in the hat, it was very tricky, they had to listen to oral dictation, follow instructions to draw the cat, and then trace over their cat with vivid, cut out their cat and colour them in. The students are so proud of their work. Make sure you come into the classroom to see it.

Welcome back
One of the students in our class has been away for four weeks overseas visiting his family. We were so excited to see him this morning and hear all about his trip. He brought in English money called pounds and some photos from his trip.
Sound waves
Today we each recorded a sentence and looked at our sound waves. We then made sound wave art by drawing our sound waves onto black paper once we had completed our drawing we used ribbon and wool to construct the shapes of our sound waves. Our art is on display in the foyer.
