Do you know what a stalacmite or a stalactites is?
Today for writing one of the boys in our class came to school with a very interesting object. It is part of a stalactite, a stalactite are icicles made of rocks which are formed on the top of the cave. They form over millions of years of water dripping from a cave roof. A stalacmites grows up from the cave floor. Sometimes a stalacmite and a stalactite meet and join like a column. Starr's mother found this object when she was very small in a stream. We are so lucky that such a special treasure came into the classroom. The class were fascinated by this new found knowledge that they all asked to write a story about it today. Next time you pick up your child's writing book ask them to explain the difference and read their story to you. Their stories and illustrations are amazing.
