Arahoe Holi Festival
When: Saturday 14 March @ Arahoe School’s front field, 11 Arahoe Road, New Lynn
What is Holi? Holi is a spring festival also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia. It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus or people of Indian origin. It is celebrated in India, during the day, Friday 6th March.
Time: 10am -12pm
Dress: Please wear white (but not your best whites), adults ensure you are covered, children can wear togs

Introduction: Shenita Prasad will speak in English mixed with Hindi and explain the meaning and significance of Holi.
Organization:
50c-$1 buys a 200g scoop of colour in a mini-zip lock bag, or alternatively families can buy their own colour prior to the festival from local suppliers’ e.g. Spice Market or Khyber Spice.
Participants, especially our children, play, run and throw colour. This is a FUN festival!
Water and water play: water guns and bottles are encouraged but not water balloons
This event will not be cancelled – it will go ahead
Food: 50c each Indian snack, $1 ice blocks, $1 fizzy drink
Managing your own health
Participants please manage your own allergies. The colour powder is safe for skin, eco-friendly, blended with herbs, non-toxic, a non-edible product, for external use only, made of starch & Permitted Food Grade Ingredients. Pls avoid eyes when playing. The Arahoe first-aid room will be open on the day of the festival.
